What is AIVA Everything you need to know

Until 10 years ago, many people claimed that different forms of art are out of the limits of AI. Obviously, AI-powered image generators proved them wrong with millions of picturesque images they produce every day. Now it seems like AI is becoming much better at composing songs. With the power of AI and machine learning, there are multiple song generators that were trained on thousands of songs. These tools are also capable of creating songs that fit multiple genres and match the desired emotion.

With video content becoming the primary medium on multiple social media platforms, social media users and organizations started looking for methods to increase their videos’ effectiveness. We all know that a nice piece of music can take a video to the next level. However, when it comes to choosing the most popular songs, copyright is a big issue. With AI-powered tools, without any music knowledge, users can create multiple songs within a few minutes easily.

AI-powered music generators are capable of meeting the expectations of many hobbyists, personal content creators, and organizations. Also, many music producers admit that music generated by an AI tool is a great way to start a project and can be very inspirational. Some solutions also allow users to download stem files, an open multi-track audio format, enabling them to further edit the song, change volumes of tracks, add or remove instruments, vocals, or effects, and change it in any way with professional sound editing software.

What is AIVA?

AIVA (Artificial Intelligence Virtual Artist) is one of the most popular and most capable AI-powered music composers. It allows anyone to create a song within minutes either via its software or via its web application. The solution is designed as an assistant to help music creators during the creative process. Users who subscribed to its Pro Plan can also own the full copyright of any composition they created with AIVA forever.

The service currently has its own YouTube, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Apple Music accounts, enabling people to listen to the music created by other users. The service was released in 2016 and released two albums, Genesis and Among the Stars, in 2016 and 2018 respectively. During its early years, AIVA mostly specialized in classical and symphonic music compositions. Later on, it improved itself in other genres too.

The EU-funded project also became the first virtual artist to be recognized by SACEM, the French professional association representing the royalties and rights of original music creators. It also became the first AI composer to be commissioned for a piece for the National Day celebrations in Luxembourg and an anthem for the city of Dubai.

AIVA’s AI system benefits from machine learning that trained on more than 30,000 classical music scores from the world’s most renowned composers. During the following years, the team behind AIVA focused on developing the system to increase the quality and diversity of the composition and added various new genres. Now, AIVA can compose soundtracks for ads, video games, movies, and more. Various global organizations are already using AIVA to create their music, including Nvidia, Vodafone, PureStorage, TED, Globant, and more.

What are the features of AIVA?

AIVA comes with a really nice-looking and easy-to-understand interface, making it much easier to create music, especially for inexperienced users. It offers two methods to create music. Users can select preset styles, which are based on various datasets that include musical features. These datasets are the key factor to determine how your song will sound regarding harmonic progressions, rhythm, and melodic lines. Even users with no knowledge of music theory can easily find what they are looking for and start creating their music. If you have experience in music producing or music theory, by generating your own profile you can take more control over the song. This option allows users to change the dataset, key signature, time signature, instruments, tempo, and many more.

The second option is called Influences. This method enables users to upload songs to influence the composition. For example, if you are looking for a song that sounds like it is made by your favorite band, you can upload a few songs from that band and it will generate songs similar to provided songs’ characteristics.

Aiva also comes with an editor, which looks very similar to many sound editing software’s timelines. From this section, users can change the tempo, change the volumes of instruments, change notes, or add custom layers. The editor eliminates the need for extra editing software and is capable of handling most of the basic options you may need.

Is AIVA free?

AIVA has multiple pricing plans, including a free plan.

The free plan is designed for non-commercial use cases. Copyrights of the songs that are created with a free plan belong to AIVA and credit must be given to AIVA. The free plan allows 3 downloads per month and tracks can’t be longer than 3 minutes.

The standard plan costs €11 per month if billed annually. It is an ideal solution for content creators who want to monetize compositions only on Youtube, Twitch, Tik Tok and Instagram. In Standard Plan, the copyright is still owned by AIVA with limited monetization options. It allows users to download 15 tracks that can’t be longer than 5 minutes.

The Pro plan costs €33 per month if billed annually. It is recommended for creators who want to own the copyright of their compositions and monetize without restrictions. Copyrights of the songs are owned by the users. It provides up to 300 downloads per month in all file formats. The duration of each track can be up to 5 minutes and 30 seconds. AIVA also offers a 30% discount on its annual plans and a 15% discount on its monthly plans. Organizations that need complete flexibility can also contact the company for a custom subscription plan.
