Cloud giant AWS is having technical difficulties in the North American region. With the outage, thousands of online services also had issues. According to the reports on the DownDetector, the outage affected services like ConnectWise, Pokemon Go, Roku, MeetUp.com, League of Legends, Adobe Spark, Chime, and many others. Although the AWS status page states that all the services are in perfect condition, AWS engineers stated that the outage also preventing them from updating the status page.

Caused by AWS Kinesis
The cloud giant also announced that AWS Kinesis is at the core of the outage. AWS Kinesis allows users to collect, process, and analyze real-time, streaming data to provide timely insights. According to the reports, 27 other AWS products are also affected by the problem. US-East-1 Region, one of the company’s 24 regions, is the only one affected according to the announcement. AWS also posted an update on its dashboard stating,
“We have restored all traffic to Kinesis Data Streams via all endpoints, and have resolved the error rates invoking CloudWatch APIs. All services are now operating normally. We have identified the root cause of the Kinesis Data Streams event, and have completed immediate actions to prevent recurrence.”
We believe that the issue is related to the current AWS outage. Our teams are continuing to work to confirm the cause and find a resolution as soon as possible.
