Azure Arc set to be announced at Microsoft Ignite conference

Microsoft’s hybrid technologies are an important part of its Azure platform. Microsoft unveiled the Azure Arc and some of its features in a blog post they published. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, “Azure Arc marks the beginning of this new era of hybrid computing, where there is a control plane built for multi-cloud, multi-edge.” in his Ignite keynote about the Azure Arc.

Nadella: Azure Arc is beginning of an era

Microsoft is extending the hybrid cloud management technologies to Linux and Windows server platforms and Kubernetes clusters running on any infrastructure. With Azure Arc, users can deploy, manage and secure apps and run data services in their own servers, multiple cloud platforms, and edge computing scenarios to the connected devices in the remote locations.

Microsoft is also revealing a new appliance named Azure Stack Edge, with new rugged Azure Stack hardware. Microsoft claims, “Azure Stack Edge form-factors designed to provide cloud capabilities in the harshest environmental conditions supporting scenarios such as tactical edge, humanitarian and emergency response efforts.”
