A1 Croatia, a member of A1 Telekom Austria Group, started to build a state-of-the-art data center in Zagreb this autumn. This investment, worth €11 million, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021. According to the announcement, the new data center would comply with the Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, a standard-bearer for digital infrastructure performance.
With the new data center that will use up-to-date technology, A1 Croatia aims to meet the increased demand for cloud solutions resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and the earthquake that struck Zagreb in March.
The head of network management and IT services at A1 Croatia, Antonia Kujundzic Velimirovic, said,
“By choosing the solutions of the A1 data centers, business users make great savings on equipping their own spaces, while receiving a reliable solution of high quality, certified by a global authority in the field of data centers. In addition to saving on equipment, A1 also offers its customers 24/7 customer support. In this way, users get additional relief in the preparation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, which have become the focus of every company’s business due to recent crisis situations.”
Zagreb data center of A1 Crotia is designed to stand earthquakes of up to 9 on the Richter scale. The facility will use advanced cooling, power, security systems, an energy-efficient design, and optimized electricity consumption.
Igor Grdic, sales manager at Vertiv Croatia, which is developing the project for A1 Croatia, said,
“Apart from additional capacities for A1 Croatia and its users, the new data center will also ensure the development of the data center market in Croatia, since it will be the second data center in the region that will be officially certified in the Tier III standard by the Uptime Institute,”
