Green Mountain announced that its new data center is located in its data center campus located in Oslo, the capital of Norway. The campus is approximately 20 kilometers away and comprises of 75.000 square meters with a line-of-site capacity of up to 75 MW. The facility runs on 100% renewable energy and the first data center building is fully dedicated to one large international cloud provider.
Third data center site in Norway
The latest addition is the company’s third data center site, in addition to its mountain hall facility and the facility at Rjukan. The Norwegian climate makes the facility unique in regard to energy efficiency and there are plans for reusing the waste heat. The construction of the facility started in September 2019 and the project has been completed according to schedule. Tor Kristian Gyland, CEO, Green Mountain, said,
“Today marks an important milestone in the company’s history and supports our growth strategy. This location, with availability to diverse international fiber routes and proximity to the capital is ideal for both international hyperscalers and domestic and international enterprises.”
