The company also stated that the construction is set to begin in February of 2021 and accept early occupancy for tenants in the third quarter of the same year. The new facility is in close proximity to the company’s Chicago I data center. The new data center also capitalizes on tax exemptions applied to data center construction and equipment.
The state implemented sales tax incentives to attract new IT and construction jobs. Chris Kincaid, SVP of Design and Construction, Stream Data Centers, said,
“Elk Grove Village understands the unique needs and complexities of developing large scale data center projects. That knowledge combined with ComEd’s infrastructure and reliable ability to deliver electric utility capacity gives us great confidence in our ability to deliver this large scale project in 2021.”
