Hyperscale data center campuses provider, Vantage Data Centers announced that the company has reached a major milestone with the completion of a concrete shell and is on schedule to deliver its first greenfield European hyperscale data center in 2021. The facility is located in Winterthur, Switzerland, 25 kilometers northeast of Zurich.
Reliability, sustainability, and environmental responsibility
The 40 MW development will provide large scale, sustainable data center facilities built for the unique needs of hyperscalers, cloud providers, and large enterprises and is also a part of the company’s $2 billion European expansion. When fully built, the three-hectare campus will be home to four multi-story data centers totaling over 37,000 square meters. The company is constructing the shell of the initial facility with 8MW of capacity as part of its standard design practice.
Vantage Data Centers also stated that the Zurich campus will prioritize reliability along with sustainability and environmental responsibility. The campus will employ hyper-efficient cooling with outside air economization using minimal water. The campus’ features enable Vantage to achieve better power usage effectiveness and water usage effectiveness. The campus will also include a solar facade, electric vehicle charging stations, drought-resistant landscaping, a green roof and motion-sensor LED lighting.
