- Vantage Data Centers has started construction on a second data center Frankfurt II campus in Germany, situated on seven acres in Raunheim with 6MW, 130,000 square feet.
Hyperscale data center campuses provider, Vantage Data Centers has added another hyper-scale data center into its portfolio. The new campus is located in Johannesburg. With this data center, the company targets to expand its fiber connectivity to the rest of Africa.
1 billion dollars data center investment
Vantage Data Centers invested more than $1 billion into the new 30-acre (12 hectares) campus. Once fully completed, the campus will include 80 MW of IT capacity and more than 650,000 square feet (60,000 square meters) across three data centers. It is situated in Waterfall City, Johannesburg. The company aims at a thriving data center ecosystem as well as to increase its fiber connectivity to the rest of the continent through this new data center. Following the company’s sustainability commitment, the campus aligns with green energy, offering renewable energy options, and limiting carbon emissions as well. To support the production of 87 MWp from the local grid, Vantage entered a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SolarAfrica. Chief operating officer, EMEA at Vantage Data Centers said;

Vantage Data Centers also announced the start of construction on a second data center, Frankfurt II campus. The 16 MW facility is situated on seven acres in Raunheim, 12,000 square meters. The company plans to add 56 MW of IT capacity across two Frankfurt data centers, once its Frankfurt II campus is finished. The new data center is Vantage’s ninth campus in the EMEA region. Six of those are operational, Berlin I, Cardiff, Frankfurt I, Johannesburg, Warsaw, and Zurich.
In addition, Vantage Data Centers is already in process of developing its first 55 MW Frankfurt campus, located in Offenbach. It is approximately 30 kilometers from Raunheim. Once fully completed, both campuses will provide customers with a total of 111 MW of IT capacity in the Frankfurt region alone.
