MAX will be colocated at Zayo’s zColo Ashburn facility under the terms of the agreement. The facility will deliver fiber connections to academic, research, government, scientific, and business communities. Zayo’s data center will provide a dedicated, private suite with more than 30 cabinets. The tier 3 equivalent facility features more than 75,000 square feet and its 15 MW power capacity is expandable up to 40 MW.
Next-generation internet technologies
MAX is already providing cyberinfrastructure to the research and education community. MAX claims that it is focusing on next-generation internet technologies, software-defined networking (SDN), hybrid cloud environments, high-performance computing, big-data-driven domain science workflows, and advanced cyberinfrastructure systems. Thus, developing advanced cyberinfrastructure systems that can support innovative domain science applications is very important.
Joel Daly, president of Zayo’s zColo business segment said about the agreement:
“Zayo’s public sector customers in the Ashburn facility and the National Capital Region are transforming their IT infrastructure and moving to cloud adoption to achieve scalability, cost savings, security, and more agile services. Zayo’s multi-site data center portfolio, ability to customize and scale our solutions and capability to connect globally over our expansive network helped us earn this business.”
