Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation announces the Toshiba MG08-D Series HDDs. The new devices are designed for business-critical applications, such as email and CRM, data analysis for business intelligence, small-medium business servers, and data-retention and compliance archiving. The new series features 4TB, 6TB, and 8TB models which offer SATA and SAS interfaces. The new HDDs also offers better power efficiency and a lower component count to deliver a better total cost of ownership with Toshiba’s 7th generation air mechanical design.
4TB, 6TB and 8TB models
Toshiba also announced that the new 4TB models are available in 512e, 4Kn and 512n sector models, and the 6TB and 8TB models are available in 512e and 4Kn sector models. It also assures plug-and-play interoperability for applications using older 4TB models. Toshiba’s new series also provides industry-standard features, such as 7200 rpm performance, a 3.5-inch form factor, SATA 6Gbit/s or 12Gbit/s SAS interface, and a 550TB a year workload rating. MG08-D Series models are expected to be generally available in the first quarter of 2021.
