The founders of HostGator are teaming up to establish a new web hosting service provider, create.com. The team will be led by Adam Farrar, former CEO of HostGator. Create.com team signed a new office lease, the company’s headquarters will be located in Houston. The new service is expected to be launched in November and former HostGator professionals will try to be a competitor in the industry for the second time. The new web hosting company’s office is expected to be around 15,000 square feet through a five-year lease.
Launching in November

HostGator was established by Brent Oxley and Lance Custen in 2002 and became one of the most popular web hosting services quickly. Ten years later, the company was bought by Endurance International Group for almost $300 million. Farrar left the company in 2018 and now will lead the create.com team. The company also started hiring professionals from the region. Adam Farrar, CEO, create.com, said,
“We saw the overall industry just continuing to get commoditized and support being outsourced and the quality of service on the market continued to degrade. We basically said, ‘We can bring back quality to the share hosting space and do it better than everyone else is doing right now.’”
We think that the economy in Texas is phenomenal. We think just the workforce here is amazing. We’ve been able to, in our history, hire basically any kind of skill or talent, especially in Houston where everyone thinks it’s oil and gas, but we have hired hundreds of strong developers and administrators and all sorts of talent you wouldn’t necessarily think about if you’re outside looking in. The people are here, the buildings are here, the spaces are here and the talent. I think as a city we just have to rebrand that we’re not all about oil and gas.”
