Pop!_OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution featuring a custom GNOME desktop. Pop!_OS is designed to have a minimal amount of clutter on the desktop. The distribution has published a new development release, Pop!_OS 20.04. Users on 19.04 must first upgrade to the 19.10 version before upgrading to 20.04. Pop!_OS 20.04 will be Long Term Support (LTS) version until released 22.04.

New features
Pop!_OS 20.04 offers automatic window tiling. After activating tiling mode, newly launched windows will be automatically tiled. This feature can be toggled on or off anytime. Pop!_Shop now includes Flatpak application support and the Flathub application repository by default. New Pop_OS also offers a new application switcher and launcher. Users can type “Super + /” to activate the new application switcher and launcher.

How to upgrade Pop!_OS from 18.04 or 19.10 to 20.04?
Upgrade from 18.04 and 19.10 to 20.04 with the command:
sudo pop-upgrade release upgrade systemd -f
Upgrade from 19.04 to 20.04 by first upgrading to 19.10 with the command:
sudo pop-upgrade release upgrade systemd
After the successful upgrade to 19.10, you can then upgrade to 20.04 with the command:
sudo pop-upgrade release upgrade systemd -f
If you encounter issues running the pop-upgrade
command, in a second terminal window, run the command:
sudo pop-upgrade daemon
And then run the upgrade command again.
