What is Accenture?


Accenture is a multinational consulting and processing services company with capabilities in digital, cloud, and security. The company, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland currently has more than 500,000 employees. It is also a Fortune Global 500 company that served over 6,000 clients in more than 120 countries. The company offers business strategy, technology strategy, and operations strategy services along with technology, business and management consulting. Its Interactive division offers digital marketing, analytics, and mobility services. Accenture Technology mainly focuses on technology software, implementation, delivery, and research & development.

Accenture was originally the business and technology consulting division of Arthur Andersen. In 1989 Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting are separated. In 2000, Andersen Consulting broke its ties with Arther Andersen as a part of an arbitration settlement. On the first day of 2001, Andersen Consulting rebranded itself as Accenture, which stands for “Accent on the future”.

In 2001, the company also announced an IPO and was priced at $14.50 per share. Shares are being traded on the New York Stock Exchange. At the end of the day, the Accenture Shares were priced at $15.17 and the company managed to raise $1.7 billion.

The company decided to change its place of incorporation to Ireland from Bermuda in 2009. The company was partnered with Apple in 2017 to create iOS business software. The company also acquired Symantec’s cybersecurity division, Canadian consulting company Callisto, a cloud-native and agile development company Imaginea Technologies, Infinity Works, and Cygni, a cloud-native, full-stack development company.
