Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was founded in 1969 as a Silicon Valley start-up. The company has grown into a global company achieving many important industry firsts along the way. AMD today develops high-performance computing and visualization products to solve some of the world’s toughest and most interesting challenges.
For 50 years AMD has driven innovation in high-performance computing, graphics and visualization technologies. Hundreds of millions of consumers, leading Fortune 500 businesses and cutting-edge scientific research facilities around the world rely on AMD technology daily to improve how they live, work and play. AMD employees around the world are focused on building great products that push the boundaries of what is possible. Dr. Su joined AMD in January 2012 as senior vice president and general manager, global business units. She was responsible for driving end-to-end business execution of AMD products and solutions.
AMD has been driven by multi-generational high-performance CPU and GPU roadmaps and aggressive technology investments for 2021. The company unveiled a new GPU architecture designed expressly to optimize data center compute workloads, at the end of 2020. For the data center market, AMD has delivered significant innovation since 2017, with its first and second-generation AMD EPYC server processors. The company recently announced that El Capitan supercomputer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory that delivers more than two exaFLOPs of double-precision performance will be powered. El Capitan supercomputer is planned to become online in 2023.
