What is Datadog?

Datadog, founded in 2010 in New York, is a monitoring service for cloud-scale applications. It can monitor servers, databases, tools, and services through a SaaS-based data analytics platform. Olivier Pomel and Alexis Lê-Quôc founded the company.

It was designed as an infrastructure monitoring service; as cloud adoption gets popular, Datadog expanded its product offering to cover cloud service providers. Datadog targets organizations of all sizes and across various industries to enable digital transformation and cloud migration and drive collaboration among development, operations, security, and business teams.

In 2021, Datadog extends database visibility with deep Database Monitoring (DBM).  DBM enables users to see the performance of database queries, troubleshoot slow queries with detailed execution breakdowns, and analyze historical trends in query latencies and overhead.
