What is FirstLight Fiber?

Firstlight, headquartered in New York, is a fiber-optic data, Internet, data center cloud, and voice services. FirstLight has over 24,000 route mile fiber network. The company is connecting approximately 10,000 locations in service with an additional 30,000 locations serviceable.

The company was founded in 1999 in New York with the name Tech Valley Communications to provide fiber-based communication services to its customers. The company enhanced its voice services with the acquisition of GFC Communications and gained access to an additional fiber network with the merger with Mid-Hudson Communications. The company decided to change its name to FirstLight Fiber in 2013.

FirstLight’s network is capable of anticipating traffic problems and the company reroutes traffic to another pathway located in a different geographical course to avoid outages. Its services connect users to virtually unlimited bandwidth and a future-proof network of up to 100 Gbps.
