What is Fujitsu?

Fujitsu, Tokyo-based information and communications technology equipment and services company, was founded in 1935. The company is one of the largest IT services providers by annual revenue. Fujitsu has more than 130,000 employees worldwide and its products and services are available in 180 countries. It is also listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Nagoya Stock Exchange.

Fujitsu was founded in 1935 with the name Fuji Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturing, as a spin-off of the Fuji Electric Company. The company manufactured Japan’s first computer, FACOM 100 mainframe, in 1954, and launched its second-generation computers, FACOM 222 mainframe in 1961. The company is also known for its research and development division, Fujitsu Laboratories has almost 1000 employees.

Fujitsu offers a public cloud service from Japan, Australia, Singapore, the U.S., the U.K., and German data centers based on the Global Cloud Platform strategy announced in 2010. It was launched in Japan as an on-demand virtual system service and launched globally as Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform/S5. Since July 2013 the service has been called IaaS Trusted Public S5.
