What is HostPapa?

HostPapa is a Canadian-based web hosting service provider headquartered in Burlington, Ontario. The privately-owned company has locations in 11 other countries including, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Mexico, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, European Union, France, Ireland, Belgium, and Spain.

HostPapa started as a dedicated and hosted applications provider in 2002, however, the company started offering web hosting solutions in 2005. The company was officially founded in 2006 by Jamie Opalchuk, the company’s current CEO. The name, HostPapa comes from the company’s motto, which is “Let Papa take care of you!” The Papa character in the company’s logo was chosen in the “Who’s Your Papa?” logo design contest in 2012.

HostPapa is also known for its commitment to using green energy. The company uses only renewable energy for both data centers and in its office spaces. The web hosting provider also donated 10,000 trees in Africa during the Earth Day in 2011. The company was accredited by the Better Business Bureau in 2012. The company also received Uptime Awards from NCM Online and WHTop along with many other awards. In 2012, the company announced partnerships with CloudFlare and SiteLock Website Security and in 2015, announced a multi-language partnership with Dropmysite.

HostPapa uses Hewlett-Packard hardware and servers, networked by Cisco equipment in tier-one data centers. It also uses Sucuri server software and CloudProxy. HostPapa offers cPanel for its users to access its hosting software.

HostPapa currently hosts over 500,000 websites. The company offers a website builder, email plans, domain registry, and web hosting plans.
