Linux Kernel is the core component of the operating system that is always resident in memory and it is responsible for interaction between hardware and software, including memory management, process management, device drivers, and system calls and security. It was created by Linus Torvalds in 1991 when he was a 21-year-old computer science student in Finland and is still developed by him and many contributors.
