What is Leaseweb?

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) provider Leaseweb was founded 20 years ago for offering dedicated servers, CDN, cloud hosting and hybrid cloud on a global network.

After opened their first office in Utrecht in 1998, the company developed their server capacity, reaching 5,000 in 2005 and more than 80,000 in 2017. To provide its customers with global connectivity, Leaseweb expanded to the United States, opening an office in the DC area. In 2010 Leaseweb acquired the German hosting provider, Netdirekt, in order to expand our presence in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the rest of Europe.

Due to the rapid growth of Asian markets, Leaseweb opened a new office in Singapore and a new data center in Hong Kong. In 2016, the company acquired Nobis Technology Group, including its Ubiquity Hosting brand, allowing us to expand our footprint to Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, Atlanta and New York. Now, the company’s global presence over five years and has seen Leaseweb achieve a 22% increase in data center locations worldwide.
