Verisign is a global provider of domain name registry services and internet infrastructure. Verisign provides registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce. The company operates two of the 13 global Internet root servers.
Verisign was founded by D. James Bidzos on April 12, 1995 and is headquartered in Reston, VA. For more than 23 years, Verisign has been protecting the DNS infrastructure for over 163.7 million .com and .net domain names and processing more than 219 billion query transactions daily keeping the world connected online.
The domain name registry services and infrastructure company ensures the security, stability and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including the authoritative directory of all .com, .net, .tv, .cc, .name top-level domains and the back-end registry for a portfolio of generic top-level domains.
