Ransomware attacks are gaining popularity and can cause serious damage to businesses. To fight against ransomware attacks, 19 security firms, tech companies, and non-profit organizations plan to form a new coalition. Ransomware Task Force aims to create a standardized framework for dealing with ransomware attacks across verticals, one based on an industry consensus rather than individual advice received from lone contractors.

According to the announcement made by the Institute for Security and Technology, The RTF will assess existing solutions at varying levels of the ransomware kill chain, identify gaps in solution application, and create a roadmap of concrete objectives and actionable milestones for high-level decision-makers. The RTF will commission expert papers and engage stakeholders across industries to coalesce around vetted solutions, to contribute to the roadmap.
