Independent security experts at Virus Bulletin have completed the tests in October 2019. According to the results, Emsisoft Anti-Malware has once again been awarded VN100 certification.
The test examines the software’s detection capabilities with more than thousands of malicious samples gathered by a variety of organizations, such as the WildList Organization, the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization and Virus Bulletin.
99.95% of malicious files were detected
The tests took place on physical computers and virtual machines that are similar to typical business PCs and each security product is tested with default settings on a clean instance of Windows. To test the accuracy of the product’s ability to separate a malicious file from a clean file, more than 100,000 clean files from the most popular software were also installed.
Anti-malware solutions have to detect at least 99.95% of malicious files and mistake no more than 0.01% of the clean files as malicious. Emsisoft Anti-Malware software was able to detect 100% of the 1,487 malicious files without any false positives and awarded the VB100 certificate.
