The WordPress team announced that they are waiting for users to test for bugs for WordPress 5.6 release candidate 5. It is possible to test the WordPress 5.6 RC 5 by downloading its package. Or you can use the Beta Tester plugin to update your sites.
Changes in the final release
WordPress 5.6 will be the final release of 2020. It will come with lots of refinements to polish the developer experience. The following changes have been made since RC 4:
- Twenty Twenty One: Fix nesting of the main element ([49760] for #51944)
- Application Passwords: Ensure detection accounts for multisite ([49765] for #51939)
- Bundled Themes: Bump all versions for release ([49766] for #51919)
WordPress 5.6 will be the third and final major release of 2020. It is supposed to include nav menu block, automatic updates for major core releases, widget editing and customizer support in core, PHP 8 support, and update Gutenberg.
