Univention announced that the company has published UCS 4.4-7 and it is ready to download. The new release offers various improvements and new features. In the new version, Univention added a new Samba version and worked on the S4 Connector.
UCS Self Service
With the release of 4.4, Univention introduced the Self Service app, which allows users to make changes to their personal data, without the need the admin rights in order to make these changes, including changing and resetting the password and editing the contact information. The new version also supports this feature if the user is logged in via SAML using single sign-on.
Univention also introduced a banner that asks for the users’ consent, since the portal and the management console of Univention Corporate Server also use cookies. UCS admins can now activate the new cookie banner with the UCR variable umc/cookie-banner/show.
Samba
Univention also announced that in the latest version the company upgraded Samba from version 4.10.1 to 4.10.18. The Samba upgrade solves the Zerologin exploit problem, which theoretically allows attackers to gain control of an AD domain controller. The company also adapted Samba and the S4 Connector in a way that disabling the deprecated DES encryption no longer causes rejects during synchronization.
