How to Fix the FTP 421 Too Many Connections Error

A common error that occurs when using is the simultaneous connections 421 (too many connections). This error occurs when the number of connections from FTP clients exceeds the server’s limit. The server limit for simultaneous FTP connection defaults at 8. This error is easy to fix from the cPanel.

  • Log in to the cPanel
  • Go to the Files section and click on FTP Connections
  • Click on Disconnect Connection for a connection that is no longer active
  • Verify that the connection is disconnected
  • Retry the connection with your FTP client and it should work
